Printing in a School Library-Send Anywhere UC #8

Annoyance 101: School Library and Printing

Anyone who has gone through higher education in the past decade understands what a pain it can be to print from your school’s library. Most schools still have not updated their system such that you can send your work directly from your computer to the printer, but rather,  you must first send the documents you wish to print to a school computer and print from there. Seems inconvenient? Well, that’s because it is. In entry eight of the growing basket of writing on Send Anywhere Use Cases, we look at how Send Anywhere can simplify this process. If you want a TL;DR version of this here it is……download Send Anywhere today :).

The Crux of the Issue

Having to transfer data from your computer to the school’s computer is annoying for one major reason: there is no real easy way to transfer the data. The most obvious choice would be to email it to yourself; however, this presents certain issues when using a public computer such as a school computer. First off, people are forgetful by nature and if you happen to not logout of your email on the school computer, whomever uses the computer next has full access to your email and you cannot always bank on them being responsible and logging out for you. Additionally, many people (myself included) use highly complex passwords (in my instance it is 35 characters as generated by 1Password) that are quite an annoyance to enter into other computers. This becomes such a hindrance as to deter people from printing at the school library at all.

Using any number of Cloud-based services would appear an alternative to email; however, all of them require logging in thereby presenting the same problem as email. As for USBs, you always have to have a USB on you which rarely anyone does. Additionally, they are quite easy to misplace or lose.

Utilizing Send Anywhere allows you to avoid these aforementioned headaches while making the most of the inconvenience posed by the library computers. There is no logging in required so you do not run the risk of forgetting to logout after use as well as having to log on each time you wish to send something. Additionally, it is all virtual so there is no need for any hardware that you might misplace (see: USBs). All that you would need to do is select the file(s) you wish to send either within the Send Anywhere application or via the Web Widget, click “Send”, and then enter the 6-digit code that is generated on the school computer. It is as easy and simple as that. So, lets get to it! Download Send Anywhere right now!
